This guide provides a quick and practical overview of how to plan drone missions using the DroneLink web platform with DJI Phantom 4 series drones. From drawing your flight area and create your missions on the web app, the process ensures safe, accurate, and efficient flight execution—ideal for agricultural tasks.

DroneLink – Flight Planning Guide for DJI Phantom 4 Series

1. Log In


2. Create a New Plan
  • Click “+ New Plan”

  • Choose your flight type:
    Mapping
    Inspection
    Orbit


3. Draw Your Flight Area
  • Use the map to draw your mission area as a polygon, line, or point

  • Adjust size and position by dragging the edges or corners


4. Flight Settings for Phantom 4
  • Altitude: 120 meters

  • Overlap: 85% front / 80% side (recommended for photogrammetry)

  • Speed: 15–30 km/h (safe and smooth for Phantom 4)

  • Camera angle: 90° (nadir) for mapping


5. Review the Flight Path
  • DroneLink will automatically generate your flight path

  • Review path length, flight duration, and waypoints


6. Camera & Capture Settings
  • Resolution: 20 MP (5472x3648)

  • Capture mode: Time Interval shooting (e.g., every 2 seconds)

  • Format: JPG


7. Save and Sync
  • Click “Save” to store your mission

  • It will sync automatically to your DroneLink mobile app


8. Pre-Flight Checklist (Mobile App)
  • Connect your Phantom 4 remote controller to your mobile device via USB

  • Launch the DroneLink mobile app

  • Load the saved mission

  • Confirm the following before takeoff:
    Battery charge level
    GPS signal strength
    Compass calibration
    Return-to-Home (RTH) altitude (typically 50–80 m)


9. Launch the Mission
  • Start the mission manually or use Auto Start in the app

  • Monitor the drone and camera feedback during flight

  • Watch for overheating or battery drain on your mobile device (especially tablets)


Phantom 4 Notes:

  • Most Phantom 4 models don’t support RTK (unless using P4 RTK)

  • Use a high-speed SD card (32 GB or larger)

  • Always inspect your propellers before each flight
